Willard Darnell 1.8

Appearance: Deep yellow-beige. Nose: Sweet caramel fudge. Palate and Texture: The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, similar to wall paint. The taste is a mix of undiluted alcohol, caramel, and scorched sugar, with hints of salt and vanilla. Hellyers Road, a Tasmanian producer, is more recognized for its single malts, which vary from adequate to quite good. They also produce whisky-based flavored liqueurs, and I previously reviewed their "Original" version, finding it an average whisky cream liqueur rated at 78. I purchased this Salted Caramel variety last year when it was discounted, hoping for an improvement over the Original, but regrettably, it's worse. Instead of caramel, the palate presents a harsh, unpleasant burnt sugar flavor. This isn't even average; it's significantly inferior to most other liqueurs. "Inferior": 69/100 (1.75 stars)
