About this bottle

Hampden Estate, located in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, produces various distillates using distinct fermentation and distillation techniques. The "mark" of each distillate, characterized by its ester count, serves as a primary differentiator. This rum utilizes exclusively the HLCF mark (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured), featuring an ester count ranging from 400-600 g/hl, positioning it fourth out of eight in terms of ester concentration. The spirit is distilled solely in pot-stills and matures for four years in a tropical environment before being bottled at 60% ABV.

Sadie Strickland 0.5

Aroma: Acetone, nail polish remover, raisins, overly ripe pawpaw and tropical fruits. An overload of esters. Taste: Sweet with overripe pawpaw and other tropical flavors. An unappealing taste of spoiled fruit. Aftertaste: Similar to taste. Comment: I enjoy the 8-year-old Hampden, but this has too many esters for my preference.

I enjoy this, but it requires mixing as it's too aromatic to drink on its own.
