What a superb fusion of funk and elegance. Both "island" characteristics are detectable and harmonize wonderfully! The nose is dominated by rum, reminiscent of a light demerara but with a distinct Jamaican signature, complemented by pleasant sherry and smoke notes in the background. Initially, I detected Hampden Overproof with a scotch finish upon tasting this; however, after some time in the glass, the primary impression shifted, and now scotch (malt) comes first, with only a hint of demerara on the finish. How curious! Regardless, it's a remarkably intricate pour, presenting deep caramelized sugars, hojo, fruit, sherry, and a dry malt finish.

The rum is prominent and clear, while the peat is subtle. A warm, rich, and inviting aroma. On the palate, some peat smoke comes through, but it's shy. The bourbon itself is quite full and pronounced, with a substantial chewiness and a medium-dark flavor profile. Overall, a strong and (mostly) standard Barrell expression with just a hint of both Jamaica and Islay.

Intense funk and fruit on the aroma. The alcohol level is too much for my preference. Adding a small amount of water made it palatable. The taste continues with abundant funk and zesty fruit notes alongside a whisper of smoke. The aftertaste is sugary and of moderate duration. The aroma from an empty glass is more appealing than the spirit itself. This is neat for its uniqueness. Glad to own a bottle, though I won't search for another.

I'm not great with descriptions, but I can say this is an outstanding bottle. I'm happy I found two, allowing me to keep one preserved.
