About this bottle
The House of Suntory commemorates the 100th anniversary of Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery, in 2023. Concurrently, the Hakushu Distillery, established in 1973, celebrates its 50th anniversary. To honor a century of whisky production, the brand has unveiled two new limited edition whiskies in spring 2023. This Hakushu Peated Malt bottling has been aged for a minimum of 18 years in various casks. Presented at 48% ABV (700ml), it is scheduled for release in select global markets including the US, UK, Europe, and Asia starting in May 2023. (SRP $1,200)

Wonderful. Offers a lovely combination of green fruit, exotic fruit, mint, and honey with faint smoke and a touch of sherry.

Tastes like: Honey, Kiwis, Pears, Mangoes, Sultanas, Pineapple Jelly Beans, Figs, Brown Sugar, Coconuts, Apricots, Almonds, Smoke, Jasmine, White Chocolate

Marshmallow and graham cracker on the nose – one of the most exceptional aromas I've encountered.
Palate was unexpectedly medium-bodied, carrying hints of the previously mentioned notes along with added smoke and wood characteristics.
Definitely warrants another sampling for deeper analysis. I will likely never have the opportunity again, so for this experience, I am thankful. My thanks to a friend.

Smell: barely noticeable peat, toasted marshmallow, Asian pear, mint, and red apple. It evokes a distant bonfire surrounded by an orchard.
Palate: notes of flowers and fruit, with a subtle spice appearing at the end.
Aftertaste: has a lengthy presence

Pretty nice! A little more smoky than a standard Hakushu 18. I actually slightly prefer the standard for its extra sweet fruitiness
