Grand Mayan Ultra Aged Tequila

I must admit, tequila isn't usually my preference. While a few extra anejos have occasionally shifted my perspective (shout out to Adictivo and Avion 44), it's generally not my go-to. A local shopkeeper highly recommended this one, and my wife enjoys tequila, so let's see how it fares. The aroma is agave, but in a sweet manner, without the off-putting scent found in younger bottlings. We're off to a promising start. The initial taste is certainly distinct. It possesses a pleasing sweetness, yet carries a somewhat burnt caramel harshness around the edges. I find it almost medicinal and not entirely agreeable. However, my wife has declared she could drink a lot of this. For me, I suspect she'd have to. I wanted to appreciate this bottle, given its appealing look and aroma compared to many other tequilas. Regrettably, it falls short of the truly excellent ones I've experienced and simply doesn't hit the mark for me.

An elegant Tequila Extra Anejo crafted by La Cofradia in Mexico's Lowlands - Central region, aged at least 3 years in barrels. It begins with a fragrant bouquet of nuts and dried fruits; its rich and dry development offers notes of dates, prunes, agave, oak, and caramel, leading to a lengthy and well-rounded conclusion with hints of white pepper, vanilla, and chocolate. Quite smooth, with noticeable vanilla and a good amount of oak. I don't feel the need to rush out and buy it, but I would happily drink it again.

Excellent spirit. Exhibits notes of caramel, chocolate, pepper, agave, and citrus. It should appeal to fans of tequila, brandy, whisky, and rum.

Enjoyable with buttery hints and subdued agave. A relative shared it with me.

This one is primarily about the presentation. The Fortaleza Anejo offers a superior experience at a comparable cost.
