(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual American Whiskey Tasting, February 26, 2021) Mashbill: 70% corn, 20% rye, 10% barley. Nose: Faint spices like clove and cinnamon. Somewhat indistinct. Palate: Toffee, mocha/coffee, a hint of burnt taste. Excessively sweet. Finish: Butter, light espresso, toffee. This is an unusual blend. It's acceptable, but doesn't capture the best aspects of either coffee or bourbon. I was concerned it would be too coffee-heavy, but it's not overwhelming. It's too bitter for casual sipping. A small amount would be pleasant, but not much more. It ranked fourth out of six whiskeys, receiving 10% of the votes for favorite of the night. 75% of attendees indicated they liked the whiskey.

I haven't tried anything else from this brand before, so I can't compare it to their other offerings, but I enjoy this. It's somewhat bold and sweet before the coffee notes appear at the end. I found that adding a little water or one ice cube really improved it.

Sophia Pritchard 4.3

It begins powerfully, then softens into a pleasant, candied essence of freshly cut wood. It evokes feelings of being in a rustic cabin up north.

Sarah Moss 4.5

The coffee flavor emerges as a secondary wave and leaves you with a delightful bourbon-coffee aftertaste.

Angela Vick 3.8

Not detecting a lot of coffee right away, but a nice rich bourbon overall. Lovely.

Keegan Rodriquez 3.8

A well-made bourbon with a subtle coffee note at the conclusion. Its unique character makes it worthwhile.
