Fettercairn 12 Year

Nose: Sweet apples, honey, a touch of citrus, and dried grapes. Palate: Honey, dried grapes, dehydrated apples, a spicy kick from candied ginger that tingles and warms, with a whisper of salt. Finish: A delightful, enduring warmth from ginger, sweet honeyed dried grapes, the sugary taste of pressed apples, and a faint graphite note. Rating: 86/100 Overall: The aroma was quite pleasing, not overly complicated but very harmonious. The taste was equally well-balanced, with nothing disagreeable; the uncomplicated flavors complemented each other nicely. It seemed aged primarily, if not exclusively, in former bourbon barrels, showcasing a fruity malt rather than caramel or vanilla. The end was also good, despite a minor, subtle unpleasantness from a graphite-like hint. A genuinely enjoyable drink that felt stronger than its stated alcohol content. Would I have it if offered? - Yes Would I choose it myself? - Yes Would I purchase a bottle? - Yes

This was my initial experience with Fettercairn. I consider it a mellow spirit, potentially suitable for daily enjoyment, though it's not exceptional or particularly memorable. It's not the bottle I'd suggest to companions, despite being perfectly acceptable. On the nose, it's quite fruity, offering some tropical notes like Pineapple, along with Figs and Peach. On the palate, it's very smooth, mirroring the nose with pineapple, a distinct Winey character, Grape, and Peach. The flavor suggests it might have been aged in white wine barrels. The finish is very clean and simple, predominantly featuring grape. In summary, this is a standard spirit, very direct, but its approachability is a positive aspect. My rating: 72 out of 100.

Nose: light, fresh, vanilla, lemon, cream pie. Palate: coffee chocolate, coffee, cappuccino, very oily, with spicy spices. Medium-long finish with a doughy mouthfeel of coffee cheesecake. A worthwhile product, especially for its coffee aroma. Rating 4.00 _______________________________________________ Naso: leggero, fresco, vaniglia, limone, torta alla crema. Palato: cioccolato al caffè, caffe, cappuccino, molto oleoso, con spezie piccanti. Finale medio-lungo con bocca impastata di cheese cake al caffè. Nose: Aromas of peach, mango, pineapple, and a medley of other tropical fruits. Vanilla acts as a foundation for everything. Palate: A smooth mouthfeel. Mango is the primary taste, with a whisper of pink peppercorn. Finish: The pepper intensifies and builds, eventually fading to leave behind the sweet fruit notes of caramelized pineapple and fresh mango. Comments: Alright, it might be chill filtered and artificially colored, but it's essentially a fruit salad in a glass! I appreciate its accessibility and extreme drinkability. It's the closest thing I've encountered to a New England IPA.

Nose: Not much to report here. Floral, toffee, menthol - all very subtle notes. Palate: Orange, ginger/spicy, green, herbal, vanilla, peach. Finish: A medium-long finish. Fruity, spicy, coffee, milk chocolate, menthol. A slightly darker spiciness in the aftertaste. A light, easy-drinking, fruity dram. Darker and spicier on the finish. A menthol note develops as you drink it. Generally acceptable.

The aroma is reminiscent of caramelized sugar on a fresh pear slice, topped with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It's a delightful scent. The palate mirrors biting into that pear slice, with a hint of milk chocolate. The finish is peppery, with lingering cream and sugar notes. A delicious pour.
