The nose carries medium smoke with charred wood, vanilla icing, citrus peel, green pepper, agave, and herbs. The palate is herbal, vegetal, rich, and sweet, with notes of caramel, char, smoke, vanilla, agave, stone fruit, lactose, and a hint of black pepper. It is very smooth, though the cake-like finish has a touch of spice.

About this bottle
Espíritu Lauro's mezcal is a combination of 70% wild Espadín and 30% Karwinskii agave, which are aged 6 to 8 years prior to harvest. Fermentation occurs naturally without the addition of yeast. This añejo expression is aged for 13 months in previously used Jack Daniels barrels, which are charred and scraped before the distillate is matured within them.

Surprisingly not smooth for its age. Has a sharp sensation on the tongue.
