The operation to clear out the mediocre stuff is underway. I gathered all the subpar bottles into one group. Thirty samples that are probably average or below average were put together, with a few good pours I've already sampled mixed in. The remaining one hundred should be quite decent. Similar to my son, who at five years old, strongly believes in delayed gratification (he always eats the things he dislikes first and saves his treats for an unreasonably long time - seriously, how many kids can resist eating a stockpile of candy for weeks?), I also favor tackling tasks I don't want to do as soon as possible, like painting the bathroom and ripping up the carpet today. I drive my wife crazy by sometimes cleaning all the dishes and cooking items as we go, even before she's finished using them.. Anyway, that was a very lengthy preamble to say this was a difficult drink. It was unconventional, and my desire to finish things compelled me to buy a sample, but I suspected it would be average at best, and it was. The aroma resembled opening sterile medical supplies, like iodine, but not in a pleasant Laphroaig way. The taste wasn't awful, just strange... a light, sweet something. I believe after tonight's session, my sink will be overwhelmed, but I'd rather it be that than my stomach...
