Dunville's 1808

A refined, Irish Whiskey from Dunville's (originally established as Spirit of Belfast in 1808). It's a mix of pot still, malt, and grain whiskeys crafted using the family's traditional recipe with locally sourced organic barley; matured in former bourbon casks. It presents an aromatic beginning with hints of fruits, grain, nuts, wood, and spices; a rich and harmonious middle adds notes of freshly baked bread, toasted malt, vanilla bean, pear, citrus, almonds, and oak; culminating in a long and herbal conclusion. The nose is delicate, offering notes of oak, barley, honey, and straw. A very typical Irish aroma profile. The palate is equally gentle but presents a lovely abundance of oak, barley, and honey. The sweetness is subtle, complementing the more dominant straw flavors. The finish is predominantly short, with lingering oak and straw, resulting in a pleasant yet straightforward sip.

A subdued aroma with a slight fruitiness. The taste is gentle and very sweet, featuring notes of butter, vanilla, and lemon, with a touch of light pepper. A hint of very subtle smokiness is present. It's easy to drink but very straightforward; best suited for newcomers or cocktails.

An aroma of sweet, green grapes and white wine, with more fruitiness on the palate alongside sweet pastries and a hint of smoke to conclude. Very enjoyable and a great value.

One of the superior Irish blends I've encountered. Good smoke. A nice hint of peat. Truly surprising.
