Stacy Denney 3.5

I acquired this for $30 from someone liquidating their collection. It's a private barrel selection from Thru the Cellar Door, apparently located in Broken Arrow, OK. The stated proof and ABV on the bottle don't align perfectly—it indicates 62.75% and 133.5 proof, so it's uncertain if the actual percentage is 62.75% or 66.75%. I suspect the latter. It's 8 years old, making it several years older than their standard cask strength offering. This definitely benefits from a bit of water, both to reduce the significant heat and to reveal some pleasant fruit notes. The aroma presents as peach cobbler with a cinnamon brown sugar topping. There's agreeable oak and a slight plastic note reminiscent of Maker's Mark. The taste is of sweet, bready vanilla pastry, apricot, and coconut, followed by orange peel and then some drying oak tannins. A lingering brown sugar sweetness is present, but the finish is relatively short given the proof (whatever it might be). Overall, it was a great purchase for $30, though I have no information on its original price.
