Driftless Glen 5 Year Reserve Brandy

I feel like I'm being a contrarian next to glowing reviews... but I taste a lot of heat and little substance. The woody spice is so strong it overwhelms all the subtle fruitiness and elegance of the base grape (and the wonderful smell). It's interesting but disappointing.

I haven't been into brandy much lately, but this one isn't bad...
