As someone who doesn't typically drink tequila, I seem to have reviewed quite a few. This one was shared by family and is apparently quite rare. This will be a brief review, but I wanted to share since there were no prior reviews. The aroma here is very atypical for tequila. I can almost smell the vanilla emanating from it. I'm not saying anything was added, but it's certainly unusual. On the tongue, I'm not sure I like it. It's unlike any tequila I've had before. There's a significant amount of oak present. Surprisingly, there isn't much vanilla. I do detect some light cinnamon and very faint agave. Perhaps an apple cinnamon flavor. Overall, it grew on me slightly, but I think it's just okay. I wouldn't refuse a serving, but I'm not sure I'd seek out a bottle.

A rich Agave Spirit from Casa Don Roberto NOM 1437, founded by Don Roberto Orendain in 1840. It is crafted with estate-grown agave & volcanic spring water using a confidential family method. The agave is slow-roasted in earthen ovens & aged for at least 5 years in white oak barrels. It presents an aromatic beginning with hints of roasted agave, dried fruits, wood, nuts & spices; while a rich development adds notes of caramel apple, cherries, coffee & dark chocolate; that culminated in a long & rich end with a touch of oak, vanilla & walnuts. On the nose, pepper, wood, roasted agave, pear, vanilla. Quite sweet and peppery on the palate, with vanilla and caramel. A peppery, lingering finish. Thanks to a friend
A very good Extra Añejo, quite smooth, leaning towards oaky notes supported by the agave backbone, with good complexity.
Smooth and pleasant.
