Incredible. Extremely smooth with notes of toasted wood, marcona almonds, dried grapes, toasted pecans, campfire smoke, baked blue agave, burnt sugar, dark cherries, dark roast coffee, vanilla bean, dark syrup, and cocoa. It's a blend where bourbon, rum, and brandy converge with tequila. Demonstrates how barrel aging and agave can harmonize, with the oak not overpowering the spirit. Nom 1146 might be the top tequila producer globally, having made arte nom 1146, tears of llorona, t1, asombroso previously, Fuenteseca, and this.

About this bottle
Don Fulano Añejo Imperial Tequila represents the oldest offering in the brand's portfolio. While it is distilled at La Tequileña distillery (NOM 1146) in the Tequila Valley (Lowlands), the 100% estate-grown blue agave is sourced from Jalisco, Mexico's Los Altos (Highlands) region. This (extra) añejo tequila ages for 5 years in new French oak following its distillation.

Got this to compare with another bottle. The nose is pleasing, with hints of almond and custard. The palate has similar gingerbread flavors, but compared to the other, it's a bit more herbal, less fruity, and slightly less refined. It's quite good, but for the price, you might as well get the other if you can. Everything from this distillery has been solid so far.
An Extra Añejo Agave Spirit from Don Fulano, made in Mexico. It was aged in French oak barrels for 5 years before bottling. It has an aromatic beginning with notes of agave, earth, wood, herbs & spices; a rich & herbal middle adds caramel notes; leading to a long & complex finish. May 2017
Don Fulano Imperial is among the finest añejo tequilas I've ever sampled. It possesses a remarkable presence of agave for an extra-aged spirit. Rich caramel, chocolate, pecans, and spices are evident. The flavors are intricate, and the texture is velvety smooth. The finish is beautifully long with notes of oak, caramel, and agave.
