An intense French herbal aperitif made with young Vietnamese ginger and cognac. It has an aromatic beginning with herbal and fruit notes, followed by a rich and creamy body that adds notes of brandied ginger; this leads to a long and warm conclusion. November 2016 / September 2017 / April 2018
Continuing to assess cocktail components. The ginger provides a pleasant kick, though it's definitely more akin to dried or ground ginger than fresh. Imagine ginger snaps over a stir-fry. This could be my imagination. Sweetness is in the medium-high range, and the texture is quite viscous.
Sweet, slightly floral scent, with a good ginger kick. It's thick, lingers in the glass, and holds its own in a cocktail. A quality liqueur. Ideal for adding character to anything you're drinking. Well... nearly.
Smells like ginger, citrus peel, and unaged brandy. It has a thick mouthfeel with vanilla, ginger, and orange flavors; it's sweet with very little ginger spice. The finish has a minimal amount of heat.
Features sweet, honeyed ginger notes with a substantial spicy component, tasting like ginger snaps. It's very rich with a fairly syrupy mouthfeel, making it excellent for cocktails.
A subtle ginger sweetness is present. It's pleasant to drink straight, but it lacks the boldness for mixed drinks.
