The yellow Chartreuse doesn't get enough credit, which is understandable given its frequent comparison to the green variety. Its aroma is herbaceous with pleasant saffron undertones. The taste is sweet, slightly watery, with hints of spice and orange zest. The finish is quite enduring and smooth. The downside of the yellow is its lack of body compared to the green. However, it remains an excellent spirit, performing exceptionally well in mixed drinks.

About this bottle
Yellow Chartreuse, first introduced in 1838, is a milder and sweeter liqueur than its green counterpart. Its creation involves 130 distinct herbs, plants, and flowers, which are crushed, macerated, and distilled using a process known exclusively by two monks today. The liqueur possesses a natural color derived from maceration, with no artificial colorings or preservatives added. It is bottled at 80 proof.

Green Chartreuse is one of my all-time favorite spirits. Yellow Chartreuse, as many have noticed, has less intensity and is sweeter. I also find the anise flavors to be much more pronounced, although none of the herbal notes are as assertive as Green Chartreuse. I found Yellow Chartreuse quite delicious and am eager to try it in many new cocktails.
Similar to green Chartreuse, but with less herbal depth and alcohol intensity. It's more floral and less earthy and bitter in its balance of herbal, sweet, and alcohol components. Lower alcohol by volume, but its sweet herbal complexity makes it another essential for classic cocktails needing a lighter touch.
A rich, botanical cordial from France made with sugar, 130 plants & flowers, then aged in oak barrels. It presents a rich & botanical beginning; while an intense life adds notes of saffron, the primary herb; that led to a long & rich conclusion. March / October 2019
Smell: citrus rind, various botanicals and seasonings, anise, tree bark, and jasmine. Very botanical on the tongue, perhaps saffron, lime, anise, thyme, mint, cinnamon?, ginger; quite sugary with some spice and a bitter conclusion. Thick. Amazing.
I like it less than the green one, but it still has a very rich herbal flavor profile. It works very well for many cocktail recipes, such as the Chartreuse Daisy or the Alaska.
