The aroma presents orange zest, syrup, and bread. The body carries notes of grain, oat, brine, cedar, salt, and leather. The finish offers vanilla, sugar, and lemon, with additional brine. This spirit tastes somewhat younger and harsher than I typically prefer, but I find it to be a decent whiskey. I will not repurchase it, nor will I judge someone else for buying it.

About this bottle
Daviess County Lightly Toasted marks the inaugural limited edition within the brand's Toasted Barrel Finish Series. This bourbon utilizes Daviess County's characteristic high-rye and wheated mash bills, aging for over 4 years before a finishing period in lightly toasted American oak barrels. Bottled at 96 proof, it launched nationwide in August 2022 with 3,000 six-packs produced.

I truly expected much more from this. Quite disappointed, to be honest. It's not the proof. I enjoy many things in the 90-100 proof range. It just doesn't... offer much. I definitely anticipated more oak influence.
The aroma is delicate, zesty, and sweet, with a subtle nutty quality. The taste is not excessively spicy, featuring a mild nuttiness and some sweetness. The finish is smooth and biscuit-like. There is absolutely no burning sensation.
Aroma: Vanilla, wood, nutmeg, cinnamon Palate/Aftertaste: gentle & calm
Smells of cherry and vanilla. Offers brown sugar and cinnamon on the palate.
Excellent in an Old Fashioned cocktail with orange and cherry bitters.
