Rhum agricole has been produced at the Bellevue Distillery on Guadeloupe since the late 19th century. The Damoiseau family has operated at this distillery since the 1940s. Their VSOP is crafted from fresh sugarcane juice grown on the island, aged for a minimum of 4 years in re-charred ex-bourbon casks to impart additional flavor.

The aroma is sweet and smooth, with hints of bubble gum, brown sugar, or perhaps oak. The taste carries a smoky, cigar-like quality and a touch of sourness. It finishes with notes of charred wood and sweetness.
Very smooth. I detect hints of vanilla.
