The Dalmore has introduced a second Luminary edition; this one again celebrates architectural masterpieces. This time, it honors V&A Dundee. Reportedly, this contains a unique batch of peated Dalmore and is bottled at 48.6% ABV. On the nose, it's truly fruity and sweet. Tangerine, jellybeans. It reminds me of every candy from the Candy Crush video game, lol. Lulo fruit, chocolate. After a few sips, it became very spicy, with white chocolate notes. On the palate, it's a bit thin. Vanilla cream. Tangerine, white chocolate. Slightly muted. Metallic penny coin. The aftertaste was perfect. Full acidic intensity. Tangerine, oranges, citric intensity. Chocolate with oranges; sulfur, metallic. After a couple of sips, jellybeans, gummy bears, and other sugary sweets. Overall, I was truly impressed by the aftertaste of this one. I detected no peat, only some sulfuric notes. The palate is a little thin and muted, but the nose and aftertaste are very good. My score for it is 92 out of 100. A solid offering.

About this bottle
Dalmore's Luminary series, a trio of rare and limited edition single malts, is a collaboration between whisky and architectural design luminaries. This edition involved a partnership with V & A Dundee, Scotland's design museum. The single malt incorporates a small quantity of aged peated Dalmore spirit. After 16 years in bourbon casks, it was finished in a combination of Graham's Tawny port pipes and Apostoles sherry casks, with a small portion also aged in peated ex-refill bourbon casks. It becomes available worldwide at select retailers and Global Travel Retail on April 2, 2024, priced at an SRP of $350.

It felt a little too strong for me initially. The heat mellowed after about five minutes with an ice ball. The flavor is smooth. Notes of vanilla, light caramel, and sugar are present. I'm pleased I was able to get this, as it's a very limited product. I was fortunate to acquire it after a Dalmore tasting at a liquor store that received only six bottles. Only 3,600 bottles are available in the US. It's not among my absolute favorite scotches, but it ranks quite high.
Deep, complex, with notes of nuts and a whisper of smoke. Smells like: Raisins, Blueberries, Plums, Almonds, Cloves, Ginger, Dark Chocolate, Candied Oranges, Dates, Makuna Honey, Morello Cherries, Stewed Red Apples, Leather, Smoke, Passion Fruit Tastes like: Raisins, Honey, Ginger, Walnuts, Blueberries, Espresso, Cloves, Mocha, Butterscotch, Fig Newtons, Christmas Cakes, Green Apples
This Scotch is outstanding. The professional tasting notes align perfectly. In contrast to similar spirits that showcase more sweet and fruity characteristics from port cask finishing, this Dalmore emphasizes heavy peat smoke, earthy tones, and leather undertones.
