Neat. The aroma is primarily wood-driven. Also some caramel, dark fruit, slight agave, citrus, and minerals. The taste begins sweet with caramel, lots of char and oak, then agave, dark fruit, cinnamon, and pepper. The finish is very long and dry with oak tannins, cinnamon, saccharine, black pepper. The strong wood influence makes the flavor profile very similar to bourbon. The agave is a subtle component in this spirit. Bourbon enthusiasts would likely enjoy this if they are exploring tequila. This is a nice alternative for bourbon drinkers.

About this bottle
Produced at Hacienda Corralejo in Guanajuato, Mexico, this tequila is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave harvested from the estate's fields. The agave is slow-cooked in stone clay ovens for 36 hours and fermented with a proprietary yeast strain. It is double-distilled using column and Alembic copper stills imported from Spain, employing the Charentais method. The spirit is aged for 36 months in charred American oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV, with availability beginning in September 2021.

I find this bottle less captivating than the reposado variety. It presents as tequila with a woody finish. Slightly sweet and spicy. It's nice, but not exceptional.
Day 24 of the advent calendar. Sampled neat. The aroma presents wood, vanilla, caramel, and pine. On the palate, it is smooth.
