Copper and Kings is a brand that interests me. It takes boldness to establish a distillery in Kentucky focused on *brandy* (and gin). They do it well, and this limited edition release showcases their expertise. The aroma is striking – aged notes of leather and old wood complement hints of apple, peppermint, white pepper, cardamom, and galangal, suggesting a dry character...expressive, but not overly ripe. The palate is round and coating, rich without being heavy, and true to the aroma, it presents a dry, wood-forward profile with apples and mint at the forefront, finishing with spices and dry leather and wood. A distinctive brandy, worth seeking out, and a good example that brandy doesn't have to be sweet or fruit-centric.

As a newcomer to brandy, I find this offering to be exceptional. It has a smooth, velvety texture and a slightly sweet, low-burn finish. I was fortunate to have a private tour in Louisville and was greatly impressed by their various barrel finishing techniques. I recommend trying them! And if you can locate it, get this particular version of DNA1.
Yes, it remains excellent.
