My partner and I have spent several years building our selection of tequilas, very carefully researching as we go. Clase Azul Plata has been on the wish list for a while, but with a $70+ price point, we delayed the purchase. Last evening, we bought our first bottle and, not so surprisingly, enjoyed each sip. This is a sweet tequila, but that sugar is balanced by an almost off the charts flavor profile. Already huge fans of Clase Azul Reposado, we assumed their Plata would be very good too; little did we know it is beyond good, Clase Azul Plata is a tastebud sensation in a class all by itself- only to be sipped- never for mixing. Liquid gold my friend, liquid gold!!! Agave wine at its best.

The aroma is rather unremarkable but with some pleasant honey and sweet light brown sugar nectar. This is extremely sweet but really good tequila. It's rich and viscous. There's a lot of butterscotch sweetness complemented by some tropical fruit and some tart lime to balance it out. Black pepper eventually emerges and burns pleasantly. This is very fine tequila, though it only appeals if you enjoy sweetness. There is no smoke. There's also a honey-like element. There's a slight hint of mint. This is what I always imagined tequila to taste like. This is a rich and indulgent tequila that remains interesting and complex enough.
This Mexican Agave Spirit is slow-cooked in traditional ovens and distilled, followed by a triple filtration. It's presented in distinct, handmade decanters crafted by local artisans. The aroma begins with agave and spice; the body develops notes of syrup, vanilla, caramel, oak, and a subtle hint of steel. The finish is balanced and medium in length, featuring sherry, pepper, pineapple, earthy, and floral notes. April 2018
Drank it neat. The aroma is like birthday cake with a touch of ethanol. The taste is intensely sweet, with some bitter anise (licorice) flavors. The finish is a cloying sweetness. It 'tastes good' because it's not Cuervo Gold and it's sweet... but there's no depth or skill here. Only purchase for the bottle or as a special present for someone who considers Cuervo good tequila.
An excellent Plata... a personal favorite... yes, it has a prominent but natural agave sweetness... which might not appeal to everyone... but it's exceptionally smooth, with wonderful and subtle agave flavors, and a very attractive bottle... truly enjoyable. Price is on the high side... but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. I suggest El Tesoro Blanco for those who prefer a less sweet blanco.
Fantastic! The producer's description is accurate. This was the perfect complement to my dessert of 7-layer coconut cake with pineapple ice cream and passion fruit coulis. I was willing to pay $23 for a pour in a restaurant because in PA, this is available only by special order, and I had a $25 coupon for dinner.
