Centennial Limited Edition Canadian Whisky

Normally I don't review inexpensive, mixing whiskies, but I saw some opinions on this one and felt compelled to defend this whisky because it's one of the best value Canadian whiskies available. Aroma: Pleasant and rich. Contains very typical Canadian whisky scents - lots of vanilla, maple, butterscotch, caramel... Although this is a rye and winter wheat blend, not much rye comes through on the aroma. Palate: Immediately rich and very creamy. I suspect the creaminess comes from the winter wheat? More butterscotch and caramel here. It's certainly not an intensely spicy rye, but mid-palate some cinnamon and pepper begin to emerge. The flavor is somewhat light but very smooth with little burn, contrary to what other reviewers have stated. Finish: Light and relatively short. However, some raisin/prune notes linger slightly at the back of the palate. Overall, for the price ($22.99 CAD), this is outstanding! I'll always keep one of these on hand, and while I probably won't drink it neat because it's a bit light on flavor, it's still a great whisky and one I frequently use in cocktails. Its creaminess with mild spice makes it particularly good in an old fashioned.

Aromas of vanilla, butterscotch, neutral alcohol, straw, and coriander. Oily and somewhat sharp in the mouth. The palate reveals more vanilla, alcohol, butterscotch, and straw, along with pepper and hazelnut. The finish is medium in length. It lacks intensity. 2.50/5.00 – Acceptable (neat)

It's smooth when served over ice. I believe I can detect the taste of barrel char from its aging. (My bottle doesn't say "limited edition," but it's the only age-stated Centennial version of CC I've seen.)

The best available from the budget Canadian whiskies. I'd choose this over Crown or Alberta Premium any time. It's inexpensive and unrefined. But it's self-aware and embraces its identity!

Pleasing, somewhat delicate taste. Not harsh at all. It doesn't deliver the strong rye character found in Lot 40, which is absent here. However, considering the price, it's a solid choice.

I can only describe it as inexpensive Canadian whisky. Nothing particularly remarkable, but a lot of ethanol on the nose and palate. At least it was reasonably priced.
