Barrell Bourbon Batch 001

I was thrilled to find this on the menu, as it's a rare find for me. It has thick legs, almost like syrup. Initially, the aroma was quite potent. However, there's significant depth, with spice, caramel, furniture polish, taffy, and char. It's overwhelmingly vanilla. This experience is like discovering a butterscotch factory in your grandfather's basement. On the palate, it's amazing. Zest, a mix of rye spices, oak, burnt sugar, peaches, cacao nibs... the flavors unfold beautifully. It doesn't seem as intense as the proof suggests. It's very rich and balanced, not excessively sweet or potent like some other batches. The finish is long. A superb bourbon. It's unfortunate these are no longer available. A spectacular debut for the distillery, a remarkable introduction. 9/13/17

Amazing smell and flavor with loads of vanilla and caramel. What truly stands out, however, is the texture: this is a thick and syrupy drink that coats your mouth. Fantastic.

Overpowering vanilla, which is in turn overpowered by the alcohol burn; still, a pleasant experience.

A rare find these days. No one has the initial batch. Excellent. The finish persists for ten minutes.

Smooth considering the strength, with good spice overlaying the vanilla, it perfectly captures the fundamentals of bourbon.
