About this bottle

Cedar Ridge, an initiative of Cedar Ridge Vineyards and owned by Laurie and Jeff Quint, is the first Iowa distillery to make bourbon since Prohibition. The mash bill comprises approximately 75% corn, alongside rye and barley. It undergoes charcoal filtration. Please note: The 40% ABV (80 proof) small batch edition has been superseded by Cedar Ridge Iowa Straight Bourbon, which is aged for a minimum of three years and bottled at 43% ABV.

AROMA/ hints of smoke, mild sweetness. FIRST SIP/ smooth, rich, mild caramel, mild vanilla. TASTE/ sweetness, subtle corn sweetness, mild oak, a mild richness, there's a subtle caramel richness, almost like a candy bar as the Bourbon glides over your palate. FINISH/ smooth, mild oak, warming alcohol. MT Glass/ Caramel, Smokey Woody Campfire Sweetness. 80 proof This is not an intricate Bourbon, friends, but... it is incredibly delightful! Enjoy it with someone special on a getaway or with companions. Consume this wonderfully delicious drink responsibly! CH33RS

The nose and palate are characterized by sweet, fruity notes (I keep thinking of pears). It's delicate and smooth, especially for a craft spirit. I'm sampling batch #325, and with each subsequent batch I try, it improves. It ranks among the top new craft whiskeys I've sampled, offering great value at around $30. I recommend it!

[NOSE] Young, with notes of rubbing alcohol, banana, and a hint of vanilla. [PALATE] Sweet corn, banana, fruity candy, and melon with a light but smooth texture. [FINISH] Mild spiciness, some traces of mixed fruits, a touch of toasty bitterness, and a short duration. [COMMENT] A distinctive bourbon worth trying.

Everything about this 3-year-old, 43% ABV straight bourbon indicates it needed more time to mature! The aroma and palate are high in alcohol. The palate lacks depth but presents significant spice and a burning finish. This will be relegated to the back of my collection.

Catrina Juarez 3.0

Young and sweet. Corn is prominent on the nose and palate, with notes of apple and vanilla, but this is a very delicate whiskey. The finish has pepper and fades quickly. It would be interesting to see how it develops with more time in the barrel.

Rocio Zavala 4.0

The pear notes with a hint of brown sugar are right at the forefront. It's smooth and very drinkable. I truly enjoy it, though I can see why some might prefer more depth or less sweetness. However, for my taste and budget, this is an excellent bourbon.
