Cardenal Mendoza Nebulis

The final sample from a post-Christmas European Brandy selection (one each from Portugal, France, and Spain). My initial impression is its very dark color, resembling an amaro. Nose: Immediately a sherry bomb. Dark fruits and even darker chocolate. Palate: Sweet and syrupy texture. Dark chocolate and salted caramel. Burnt sugar and a bourbon-like char. Finish: Smoked sticky toffee pudding. The best way I can describe this is like that satisfying cigarette after a hot and sweaty one-night stand.

The label's description holds true. Intense smoke, with notes of clove and caramel? Not my top pick. I've enjoyed other Cardenal Mendoza expressions, but this one might not be for me. Perhaps it would appeal more to someone who prefers smoky profiles.
