It is spirited. I found it piquant and complex on the palate. I also detect some caramel and vanilla when I swirl it in my mouth. Not sure if I would describe it as salty, but the finish has a similar quality. It's a good cognac, but I can't consume too much of it. I believe this is ideal for an occasional drink.
