Cameronbridge 1991 27 Year Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

Bottled at 54.3% ABV as a cask strength offering. Initially, there's only a faint sweetness on the nose and a burning sensation on the palate and finish. It requires a generous amount of water to reduce the intensity and reveal its character. After dilution, the nose becomes very delicate, featuring dried flowers, a hint of cotton candy, and a whisper of citrus. The palate is thick and coating, with subtle citrus notes and cereal grains. The finish is warming and long, with sweet grain flavors and light spices. Despite its understated nature, this whiskey possesses a certain something that makes me want more.

This was my introduction to Grain Whisky and my first 27-year-old. At first, I thought I had wasted my money and vowed never to buy one again, especially considering it was a good value for a 27-year-old. It took over 6-8 months for it to begin opening up, but once it did, I was incredibly impressed by the change. This experience solidified my interest in aged grain whisky!
