Cameronbridge 24 year Batch 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

An intense, smooth 24-year-old Cameronbridge single grain Scotch whisky, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Look at the label and you'll see an icon of the sport of Tiddlywinks, Dr. Patrick Barrie! That determined look on his face is the look of a champion, as in mid-2017, the doctor became the eight-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion! Batch 2 consists of 171 bottles. It begins with an aromatic start, revealing notes of mint sweets, dark chocolate, butterscotch, a touch of powdered sugar, and exotic spices; while a bold development adds notes of honey, candy sweets, apricot-filled pastries, a hint of cinnamon, and nutmeg; leading to a long conclusion with notes of caramel candies and a touch of pistachio ice cream. Another distillery I haven't experienced and another successful combination of Grain/Boutique-y whisky! A 24-year-old for around $80 USD - seriously, try and find better value in the single malt world! This bears some resemblance to that Girvan I enjoyed with the vanilla, butterscotch, and cherry flavor combination, but it's better. I couldn't consume a lot of it because 'that cherry flavor,' as I refer to it, is somewhat unappealing to me, similar to lemony peatiness or bitterness (though not as severe). Still, it has perfect balance, is smooth for 50.7% ABV, and I did sample this after Black Art 4.1 and Dalmore Cigar, and it held its own. I'll give it 4 to 4.25 stars. 171 bottles produced, so act fast (I'm not sure how they profit on such a limited run?).

I've encountered few single grain spirits. Before this, I believe it was only Haig Club, and despite being from the same distillery, Haig Club is disappointing, so I approached this with hesitation. I sampled the 27-year-old batch 3, but as there's no specific entry, I'm adding my thoughts here. It has notes of cocoa powder, hay, citrus, and a slightly barnyard-like funk, though not in an off-putting way. This is the oldest spirit I've tried to date.
