Alvaro Pugh 4.0

The nose is earthy, sweet, and slightly pungent, with hints of Vanilla Coke, piña colada, mildly spicy and creamy woods, and a touch of nail polish. After allowing it to breathe, the sharper, more astringent notes dissipate, revealing a fruity bouquet with more pineapple, coconut, banana pudding, and maraschino cherries. The palate is very sweet, loaded with vanilla, spice, and a delightful character. However, there's a definite bite, a touch of hot pepper mixed with cinnamon, and some nutty astringency, perhaps bitter almond or walnut, followed by some stale tobacco. The body is quite substantial for the baseline ABV. Beautiful, plump tears form from a thin layer, creating nicely uniform arches interspersed with little icicles, all descending at a moderate pace. The mouthfeel is somewhat syrupy, bordering on velvety. The finish is a bit bitter, with the nuttiness lingering for a while before yielding to dried fruits, including a hint of apricot, and spiced black tea. Nose: 9 Taste: 8 Body: 8 Finish: 8
