Breckenridge Dark Arts

Nose: Deep cocoa and citrus with freshly made walnut and banana baked goods. Taste: Rich texture with the same notes as the aroma. Finish: Exceptionally long with citrus, vanilla, and caramel. I acquired a bottle of Willett 4 year and discovered it tastes just like this with a touch of water. It makes me question if the Willett 4 year is undervalued at sixty dollars when this can sell for four hundred. If you desire to sample this, get a Willett 4 year, add a little water, and save three hundred and forty dollars.

Attractive bottle. Perhaps I don't fully grasp its merits, but it doesn't strike me as being remotely worth the price (I reduced its rating by one point due to the cost). I much prefer the American single malts coming from Westland. It has an almost rancid aroma. But once I get past that, there's a honey and caramel complexity, almost like a rich infusion of chamomile and white tea.

Remarkable for a spirit crafted in the Scottish single malt tradition, produced entirely at a single US distillery. This is a smooth and warming sipping spirit, possessing considerable milk chocolate notes. This is where I'm undecided; it's delicious, but at this price point, smooth semi-sweet chocolate and limited complexity aren't what I seek. That said, a bottle disappears so smoothly that it doesn't last; a dram of this calls for another.

Nose: Abundant fresh malt mash. Just a whisper of dark chocolate or cocoa powder. A pleasant hint of old leather polish. Palate: Initial sip offers honey and a malty bread-like taste. As it progresses to the mid-palate, it develops notes of dried fruit and burnt sugar. Finish: Cinnamon and clove begin the finish, followed by subtle notes of cigar box and sweet pipe tobacco before fading.

Tastes like scotch rolled down a stripper's back past her anus, and your mouth is right there waiting for this elixir. You'd be better off just sticking your tongue in the stripper's butt, as far as it allows.

From batch 15. Smells of chocolate and new cereal. Tastes of honey, vanilla, and chamomile. Lingering malt and honey notes.
