Braastad VSOP Reserve Cognac

Experienced on multiple occasions, including purchasing a 0.5L bottle for around 22 euros and later a 1L bottle for 40 euros. Nose: Alcoholic, dominated by oak, with subtle dry fruit, some spice, and honey. Taste: Dry, woody oakiness, accompanied by spice, dried fruit (consistent with the aroma), a bit of honey and vanilla, lacking a creamy or oily texture. Finish: Short to medium length, dry, with a slight tannic quality. I find the oak-driven dryness and absence of sweetness to be somewhat one-note and lacking depth. For comparison, Remy Martin VSOP (which is pricier) offers a more complex and approachable flavor profile, similar to Braastad VSOP but with added sweetness and creaminess.

This Master Blender Richard Braastad Brandy from Cognac, France, crafted with estate-grown grapes from the Fin Bois & Grand Champagne regions, presents an aromatic introduction. Initial scents include tree fruits, dried fruits, herbs, and spices. Its smooth and full-bodied character unfolds with tastes of apple, pear, and green pepper, culminating in a fruity conclusion featuring pepper, chocolate, oak, and vanilla. Sampled in October 2021.

Pleasant sweet, fruity aroma. A little too much spirit taste, a faint aftertaste, and minimal overall flavor. No need to buy, but it's an okay cognac. It's better after resting for 15 minutes. Slightly tart.

Nothing special. Smells of alcohol with a light peach aroma. I found it inferior to VS from other producers.

Sweet with a touch of green peppers and dates.
