I'll readily admit I'm not a Mezcal tasting expert. That said, this is harsh and intense to my palate, reminiscent of paint thinner, burnt rubber, and anise. My wife dislikes it. I'm sipping it, but likely won't finish it. It might be an acquired taste. I'll consult some friends.

About this bottle
Uriel Simental Enriquez, a fourth-generation mezcalero in Durango, Mexico, produces Bosscal Mezcal. He utilizes wild-grown durangensis agave and follows traditional methods, including volcanic rock-lined pit ovens for cooking, hand-chopping and grinding the cooked piñas, and a two-day spontaneous fermentation. One liter of spirit is yielded from an average of 17 kilos of agave. (SRP $44.99)

A light sweetness with agave notes, wrapped in a smoky, wood-fired essence. Very clean, medium in body, with a soft creosote aftertaste that lingers. One of the superior organic spirits encountered. Consider it in a Division Bell, Loaded Pistol, Garden Sour, or enjoyed neat.
I appreciate the level of smoke and the complexity it offers. It's perfect for making margaritas.
Popcorn on the nose. Dry and smooth.
