About this bottle

This whiskey, with a mash bill of 80-90% corn, is distilled to between 160 and 190 proof. It undergoes an 11-year aging process in used oak barrels. Although it possesses a bourbon-like foundation, it does not legally qualify as bourbon due to not meeting the standard of using new, charred barrels and exceeding the maximum distillation proof.

Nose: White sugar, artificial vanilla with a metallic note, and faint corn. Kettle corn. Caramel. Subtle hints of oak and mint. Just a trace of char and smoke. Wisps of walking past the berry section in the produce aisle. It's not incredibly deep or complex, but otherwise well-balanced. Palate: Kettle corn, caramel, buttery, very subtle lemon. Oak, but with minimal tannin. Pound cake with vanilla frosting. Perhaps a bit of banana. It focuses on the mid-palate. Top-heavy, but not in a negative way. Light mouthfeel, though with decent oil content. Finish: Vanilla, lemon oil, oak. Grape skins. Cream. Short duration, but pleasant. Other observations: This isn't aiming to be the most complex, deep, rich, or intriguing experience. Instead, it's a wonderfully executed glass that aims to complement your enjoyment, rather than be the main focus. If you enjoy Irish whiskey, you'd like this. It might not be something I'd always keep on hand, but it's worth buying if it suits your taste. Cheers!

This is a peculiar pour. I'm not sure what to make of it. The aroma has an almost artificial, sweetened, mixed-drink quality. It subtly resembles the flavored spirit version of flavored vodka, with notes of berry bubble gum. There are definite nail polish undertones, however. Palate: It reminds me of Smarties candy. It doesn't taste harsh, but it tastes artificial and flavored. I know it's not, but I wonder if the extra-high corn content contributes to this. Overall, I don't dislike it, but it reminds me too much of a vodka drink. I don't want more.

This is not bourbon. The initial flavor reminds me of a floral/light honey Speyside Scotch. The finish provides subtle bourbon notes of light barrel spice, vanilla, and caramel. This whiskey is smooth and sweet...very enjoyable. It would serve as a good introduction to whiskey for a beginner or a nice, unique change of pace for an experienced drinker. As long as you don't drink it right after tasting barrel proof bourbon, you should be able to appreciate the subtle flavors.

This is quite good for what it is. Toasted almonds, cereal, and a medicinal aroma on the nose. Sweet, warm marshmallows and nuts at the start. A very smooth transition. It has an American malt flavor but is very high in corn content. Adding a little chilled distilled water made the fruit notes really come alive. I don't know where they were hidden, but they should be revealed. A short, sweet, very smooth finish. I definitely recommend it with a splash.

Nose - Sweet, creamy vanilla with a hint of oak. Taste - Tastes like creamy vanilla ice cream with some oak and a smooth tart, caramelized finish. Buzz effect - A nice relaxed, floaty sensation. Overall - Smooth, Sweet, Fruity with a hint of oak. A current favorite. Happy Drinking.

Grainy, thin, and alcohol-forward. There's a bit of white wine upfront, with rubber or eraser notes in the body and finish. I expected more.
