This is among the less expensive apricot eau-de-vie options available, and it's frequently chosen for apricot eau-de-vie in cocktails. I was anticipating a bit more here, but comparing it to higher-end eau-de-vie's is likely unfair. The aroma features lemon peel, stone fruit, and a bit of Thai basil. The palate is where I felt a little let down; the apricot is barely perceptible, and you get much more grain instead. The finish has a bit of heat and an almost vodka-like conclusion. I wouldn't say this is bad, and in the cocktails I've used it in, it has performed well. However, on its own, I would pass on this. Unfortunately, the finest eau-de-vie's tend to be quite costly, but I suppose that's why they say you get what you pay for. In cocktails, this is closer to a 3.5. On its own, more like a 2.25 or so. I'll split the difference and go with a 2.75.

About this bottle
Purillerie, a family-run distillery now in its third generation, produces Blume Marillen. This apricot eau-de-vie, which means "blossoms of the apricot," is crafted using Klosterneuburger apricots sourced from the Wachau area of the Danube Valley. Nine pounds of apricots are required for each 750ml bottle.

Nose has plenty of apricot but the taste didn't deliver as much as I'd hoped. A bit chemical, but acceptable overall.
