NOSE Creamy malt, sweet chewy candy, breakfast cereal with honey and nuts, stewed tree fruit, walnuts, peanut candy and pistachios. It has the aroma of a previously used bourbon barrel rather than fresh charred oak, with these milder scents. PALATE Sweet chewy candy, creamy malt, stewed tree fruit, cantaloupe peel, warm spices and some subtle woody notes with a hint of peanut candy. Possesses a pleasant sweet treat character, I like the creamy sweetness. FINISH Moderate -> Creamy malt and warm spices.

About this bottle
Benriach Malting Season, a limited-edition annual release, highlights the distillery's seasonal production methods. Benriach is one of seven Scottish distilleries with a malting floor, a tradition this bottling commemorates. Master Blender Rachel Barrie selected concerto barley, malted in autumn 2013, for this single malt. It was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 48.9% ABV, a slightly higher barrel strength than the prior edition. Available in select markets as of September 2022. (SRP $159.99)
