The Barrell Craft Spirits Private Release Whiskey Series introduces 24 distinct batches of Kentucky whiskey that have undergone secondary cask finishing. The most mature whiskey component featured in these batches is 18 years old. Each batch is expected to produce between 150 and 180 bottles and will be presented at cask strength. Batch CJ14. Very enjoyable, remarkably smooth considering the high proof. The rum's sweetness is very apparent and positive, with a medium-length finish. Unfortunately, it followed a superb Oola private barrel with a very different profile, potentially impacting the rating by 0.25-0.4 if tasted separately.
