The aroma was quite sweet, spicy, and definitely smelled of sugar cane. There was a bit of wood, similar to old bookshelves. The palate was surprisingly dry and less sugary than anticipated but full of flavors with a strong initial impact. I'm not an expert, but I'd say the taste reminded me of leather and grassy fields. It was a bit spicy, like a chili. The aftertaste was full of raw sugar cane, which slowly developed its charm and had exceptional duration! All in all, an excellent rum for those who might prefer whiskeys to overly sweet, standard grocery store Diplomatico or Zacapa.

On the nose: funky, grassy, spicy like cardamom and nutmeg, brown sugar. Taste: similar funk, alcohol, vegetal notes, balanced. This is a classic Jamaican style, and I anticipate it will mellow slightly now that the bottle has been opened.
