Santiago Schwarz 4.5

Pleasant, toasted, oaky aroma with a buttery top note. Initially, the flavors feel dense and intertwined. Hints of strong tannin, dark caramel, walnut, hazelnut, slightly bitter cocoa, medium-roast coffee bean, and ginger cake are present. The body is medium to full with a rich mouthfeel. The finish is very long, with gentler, fruity notes of baked apple, banana bread, and praline appearing as a final farewell. A remarkable expression and an impressive experience.

Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Caramel, butterscotch, and graham crackers. A faint hint of baking spice. Palate: Cinnamon and baking spices. Finish: Long and very warm. With a splash: Some of the caramel and butterscotch return. The cinnamon is less prominent. Overall: This might be good on ice, but it lacks the complexity to be outstanding.

Grant Shank 4.3

The nose has notes of apricot and lavender. The palate drinks like it's at a lower proof than anticipated. Flavors include lemongrass and leather. Oak is present with notes of vanilla and salted caramel. A very good batch, possibly one of my favorites from this producer. I've had an unopened bottle for about a year; if I find another of this batch, I'll buy it.

Jaden Quintero 4.3

The nose is primarily raisin, cinnamon, and leather, with sweeter notes of caramel and brown sugar also appearing, along with vanilla. Vanilla and caramel are prominent on the first sip. The palate develops into spicy rye and toasted oak notes towards the finish. It has a medium finish that emphasizes the oak and rye characteristics. Overall, a quality bourbon with classic flavors.

Gratitude to friends for gifting me this bottle for my birthday!!! Sampled neat. The nose presents cinnamon, clove, cinnamon roll, and whipping cream. The palate is initially spicy and hot but remarkably smooth and delicate. I'll finalize the rating after my brother-in-law visits. It's much more enjoyable that way.

Marilynn Woodward 4.5

Orange blossom, caramel, chocolate, salt. Complex, spicy, bright, and surprising. Footnote: The expert reviews here consistently overlook Barrell bottles. It's curious. For instance, Four Roses Small Batch is rated higher (92) than this (91), which seems illogical.
