About this bottle

The second release in the Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Collection, an annual limited edition series featuring uncommon whiskey from a specific rickhouse at the Wild Turkey Distillery, is this bourbon. The barrels for this release came from the Camp Nelson F Rickhouse, constructed in the 1940s. This facility, situated near the Kentucky River, is known for wind currents that enhance airflow around the aging barrels. Master Distiller Eddie Russell chose barrels aged over 10 years from the center section of the fourth and fifth floors of the seven-story structure. It is presented without chill-filtration at a barrel proof of 117.6 and has been available at select retailers nationwide and the Wild Turkey Distillery since September 2023. The suggested retail price is $300.

Crystal Mckee 4.5

NOSE - Sticky marshmallow with a caramel swirl. It has a slight savory quality reminiscent of salted caramel. Some notes of toasted leather are present, along with a touch of sweet oak. PALATE - Some nuttiness, saltiness, and caramel. Notes of vanilla with hints of typical cinnamon oak and leather. FINISH - Cinnamon oak, leather, and vanilla. A truly excellent classic finish.

Dudley Camacho 3.5

Mild caramel, notes of cherry wood, tannin, moderate oakiness, slight hints of vanilla, and closer to the finish, the tannin and char return. The finish is medium length with noticeable baking spice and char. It's a decent whiskey, but I find it quite overpriced for what it offers.

Cadence Farmer 4.5

Nose: Sweet honey bread, cherry, lots of vanilla, and a hint of oak spice. Palate: More fruit than the nose, with cherry, spice, and oak. Finish: Sweet vanilla and a touch of tobacco. 89/100

Claudia Jose 4.5

An outstanding bourbon. The aroma is strongly of vanilla and caramel, and the incredible flavors carry over to the palate. It has a long finish with classic bourbon characteristics.

Sullivan Hollis 4.3

Nose: High proof, oak, vanilla. Palate: Tastes like cherry vanilla cola, then the grain comes through, followed by brown sugar, and then a solid profile reminiscent of a specific brand.
