Bare Knuckle American Wheat Whiskey

A note on this wheat whiskey (not bourbon). It's not complicated, almost dull. The bottle I had was aged for four years and had a 90 proof. The mash bill was 60% wheat, 30% rye, and 10% malted barley. It's sweet, with caramel, vanilla, and gentle spices. The finish is brief, and the mouthfeel is light. If you're just starting to appreciate whiskey or bourbon, this might be an option. Only purchase it when it's on sale. For the cost, there are many superior liquors available. From Virginia.

This is an acceptable drink. It feels dry in the mouth. The aroma is pleasant and the flavors are fine. It's just excessively dry for my preference. Adding a little water seemed to enhance it. I probably wouldn't purchase a bottle unless it was a bargain. Definitely try it at a bar.

Wheaty and strong on the nose. Warm, mild citrus flavor with a slight bitterness. The finish mirrors the palate. No throat burn.

Smell: sweet corn, banana Taste: sweet, slight caramel, slight spice Finish: light oak, leather

Chill aroma. Cinnamon and dark sugar notes.
