About this bottle

This collaboration between Bardstown Bourbon Company (BBCo.) and Goose Island Brewery of Chicago starts with a blend of 6 and 7-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon. This blend was then aged further in barrels previously used for Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. To complete the blend, BBCo. added 9-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon. Approximately 3,500 cases (9L) of this Collaborative Series release are available. It is bottled at cask strength, 100 proof, and can be purchased online and at select retailers nationwide beginning September 2023. The suggested retail price is $159.99.

If you appreciate Bourbon County Stout, the stout character from the barrels is very apparent. Last year marked the 30th anniversary of Bourbon County Stout, with seven different beers released. • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND STOUT • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND COFFEE STOUT • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND BISCOTTI STOUT • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND SIR ISAAC'S STOUT • 2022 PROPRIETOR'S BOURBON COUNTY BRAND STOUT • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND TWO-YEAR BARLEYWINE RESERVE • 2022 BOURBON COUNTY BRAND 30TH ANNIVERSARY RESERVE STOUT I'm curious if this spirit was finished in a mix of the 2022 releases, or if it was in just one type. No answers found yet, but it would be great to know! I genuinely enjoyed it, and it's the first pricey bottle I've acquired. I intend to savor some each autumn when the new stouts come out!

Nelson Grooms 4.0

Received an unsolicited sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested for 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Caramel, vanilla, fruit. Palate: Clove, baking spice, a little mild cinnamon. Finish: Long duration, medium heat. With water: Some oak tannins become apparent. Overall: 8/10 - This is another bourbon with classic characteristics and a long finish. It's well above average, likely high in proof and age, but doesn't truly distinguish itself in any specific way.

Initially, I thought it was just okay, but upon returning to it, I found it has the most incredible chocolate aroma and taste. It's very noticeable but not overpowering. The proof is good too. This Goose Island bourbon is superior to their beer aged in bourbon barrels.

Marcos Ashton 3.5

The most chocolatey whiskey I've ever tried. The stout barrel really came through. A good choice if that's the profile you enjoy.

Marvin Quintanilla 3.5

Nose: chocolate twizzlers. Palate: malty marshmallow, it's familiar. Decent profile.

Truman Bail 4.5

Wow! It surpasses expectations. Quite potent. I get molasses from the BCBS, along with good vanilla and honey notes.
