A gift from a friend from TX. The color is quite dark, showing mahogany hues. It's remarkably viscous for its proof. The aroma is of cacao, significant malt, oak, and a subtle hint of baking spice. The mouthfeel is soft and syrupy, incredibly approachable for the proof; the mild sweetness and smooth caramel complement the heat from the spice and alcohol. Lingering notes of dark malted milk balls and abundant oak remain. Adding a small amount of water truly enhances and expands the profile... The medium to long finish is primarily defined by the grain blend. It's intriguing and rather pleasant... Not astonishing, but I would welcome another glass!
