Immediately, a strong black licorice scent hits you. Despite the smell, the black licorice flavor isn't as intense as I anticipated. The taste is present at the beginning and through the middle, but it's not overpowering and doesn't linger. It goes down surprisingly easily with only a slight burn afterward. I generally dislike black licorice, but this isn't too bad.
In my view, this is an essential spirit for any gathering. It's primarily consumed as shots. It has a licorice-like flavor, but after the first shot, subsequent ones go down as smoothly as water.
Licorice flavor. Smooth enough for straight shots, but excellent for mixed drinks.
