Farrista has been made at Fazenda da Barra, in Martinho Campos, since Brazil's colonization, with its first owner being the bandeirante João Vieira de Alcântara. Upon settling on the property, he began making brown sugar in the mid-18th century. At that time, the product was easily traded and very profitable, and its production yielded a byproduct, molasses, which, instead of sugarcane juice, began to be used as a raw material for brandy production. Therefore, this drink is not a Cachaça but a Melado Brandy. However, its high quality impresses the taster. Farrista Prata 600ml is aged in jequitibá barrels, a typical Brazilian wood. Robust, it has an alcohol content of 45%. Around 1950, the brand name was chosen due to tax requirements, originating from the name of a donkey, the producer's pet. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional.
