About this bottle

Located in the town of Cognac on the Charente River, the House of Fussigny crafts this Superieur Fine Champagne Cognac. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne (at least 50%) and Petite Champagne, aged in French Limousin and Tronçais oak casks. Unique among cognacs, the age and barrel specifics are hand-written on each bottle. The ABV is 40%.

The weather is a bit cool and I just enjoyed a fantastic meal of stuffed Salmon and some roasted asparagus. It feels like the perfect evening for a cognac. For me, the nose is always the best part; I can smell it from a couple of feet away. After clearing my sinuses and tearing up a bit, the bouquet explodes with vanilla and caramel from the barrel, along with rich, light fruits from the grape distillate. The mouthfeel is quite pleasant, but swirling it in the glass doesn't produce tears. Barrel flavors lead on the palate, but it evolves into white grapes, then lemon, and finally pears. This is a classy Cognac, but a friend's recommendation is still my preference.

Seems a bit intense for everyday in a bustling city, but it is pleasant, gentle, and lovely on a cool weekend evening amidst nature.

Essentially the same blend as Fussigny's XO, but younger. Overall, a very good spirit for the cost.

It's alright. I'm just not much of a cognac drinker.
