Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Finish

Deep color, with a rich aroma full of floral notes, fruit, saltwater taffy, and honey. The nose is very pronounced. Sweet clove honey is on the tongue. There's a distinct wine tartness and a hint of astringent cherry. The finish is smooth and flavorful. Quite good. 10/18/17 Not as lively this time. Less acidity and tartness compared to my memory. The aroma carries an earthy, damp wood scent. On the palate, an earthy, almost truffle-like note emerges. This is straightforward: Woodford finished in wine barrels accurately describes the flavor profile. The finish is moderately bitter. This is a new bottle; my prior tasting was at a bar, which might explain the difference. Unfortunately, I must downgrade this from 4 stars to 3. 6/1/18

Pleasant aroma. Lightly spiced bourbon. First sip: intriguing. It enters fully, the mid-palate strongly suggests "aged in wine barrels" (a robust fermented grape taste), with peanuts at the end. A spicier finish than anticipated. The aftertaste consists of Pinot Noir and peanuts. Second sip: more of the same. I'll finish this bottle, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Stopped at the Century Bar in Dayton, Oh for a glass. This is excellent and while it may not appeal to the bourbon purist, I found it to be my favorite bourbon so far. Lots of warm flavors, almost a mix between an apple and cherry pie. Leaves a very smooth wine taste on the palate.

The nose has lavender with subtle hints of cherry pie. Nutmeg and clove appear immediately on the palate, followed by a solid berry finish from the Pinot Noir barrels. Excellent flavors throughout.

Lovely reddish amber hue. Notes of baking spice on the aroma, with a pleasant, smooth feel in the mouth. Cherries are present on the palate, leading to a satisfyingly long finish. A fine dram.

I found a bottle in the back storage of the shop; there was only one, so I wiped off the dust and purchased it. I enjoy Angel Envy, so I'm hopeful they are comparable.
