Wigle Port Rye

Wigle consistently puts out reliable whiskey, though this doesn't surpass their single barrel rye. The nose presents a complex mix of dried fruit and prominent nuts, yet it's vibrant and impactful. On the palate, I don't detect any characteristics of Wigle rye; it's bright with a little mystery. Most notably, I detect persimmon.

The port cask finish elevates this version of Wigle's rye, intensifying the deep fruit notes found in the whiskey.

I'd rather have a port, but it's worth trying. It becomes more balanced with a few drops of water.
