This is the second yearly limited edition chosen by the Stake F1® Team KICK Sauber. It is a 100% rye whiskey that spent six years in new American oak barrels. Valtteri Bottas, a Finnish race car driver, owns the OATH gin brand in which it was finished; the gin is crafted using oats and apple peels from Finland. Bottled at 100.77 proof, this reflects Bottas' racing number, 77. Online availability through WhistlePig's website begins September 10, 2024. (SRP $59.99)

Aroma: gin botanicals, juniper, green apple. Rye spice, herbal, sage, candied ginger, caraway Taste: rye notes are most prominent, spicy, gin botanicals are here but more muted than the aroma. Apple note is here too. Light caramel and cinnamon Finish: fruity orchard apple, cinnamon. Numbing.
Reminds me a lot of gin, with the juniper and apples reminiscent of Valeteris gin. It’s smooth, not overly spicy, and quite delicious.
While I'm not saying rye finished in a gin barrel can't work, this makes me doubtful.
