It's a blend, quite novel yet functional. The $75 cost is questionable, but the quality is undeniable. For an 86 proof spirit, it has a substantial mouthfeel, uncommon in lower proof options. The blending expertise from this distillery is evident, producing a rye presence that's balanced, not sharp or overly peppery, and certainly not watered down. There's an intriguing, savory spice on the palate that's difficult to pinpoint; perhaps a baking spice I'm enjoying, not unpleasant. The 20% barley content, higher than usual, might contribute to this unique characteristic. While the price is a hurdle, trying a pour at a bar or restaurant at a good value is recommended. The lingering finish on the front of the palate for an 86 proof is noteworthy. Well done by the team.
